"She is absolutely incredible!! She was so kind, on time, professional, fun, and adventurous which is everything we could have asked for! It was raining and at the very end of evening most of us went outside and danced in the rain. Julie was out in the rain the entire time snapping photos and enjoying the rain with us."

- Briana & Sean

"I don't know how to put into words how amazing Julie is. Her approach to photography, especially for two people who aren't the most comfortable in front of a camera, is incredible. She made us feel so calm during our engagement session as well as our wedding photos. Her style is very unique and truly captures the love between two people. I can't recommend her enough! She is worth every single penny."

- Allison & Laura

"When my wife and I had to change our plans last minute because of COVID, we never dreamed of getting as lucky as we did with Julie from Magnolia + Ember. She was very easy to work with, punctual with responses, and had was very helpful with guiding us through everything we would need in order to make our wedding work just the way we wanted. She was fun and easy going on the day of the wedding which put us at ease."

- David & Valeria

"Julie is the most authentic person with the best personality. She mad sure that we were comfortable and made us feel like we were the only people on the mountain despite her and others being there for our adventure wedding. Her photos are worth every penny. The photos she took of us exceed beyond expectation and were absolutely breathtaking."

- Taylor & Kierstan

"Julie was able to take beautiful pictures of our engagement without me knowing she was there to do so until after the proposal. After we saw how much we loved those pictures we knew we had to book her for our wedding as well. She traveled to Michigan to do so and captured the best moments of our wedding day so perfectly. I could not love our pictures more."

- Kelsey & Patrick

"Julie was amazing to work with. Throughout the planning process she was easy to get ahold of and always easy to talk with. I had a surprise planned for my husband, and she not only kept it a secret very well, but got amazing shots of the actual surprise happening on the day of the wedding. The day of the wedding, she was such a great calming presence to have around, and everyone at the wedding loved her. I would absolutely recommend Julie to anyone."

to frequently asked questions

Answers

Is there a retainer fee?

I require a 25% non-refundable retainer upfront with a signed contract (plus any applicable travel fees for destination weddings) to reserve the date. The remainder of the balance will be due 60 days before the wedding, and all payments are made securely online. I can break the final balance into 3 payments if that makes it more affordable. Just let me know upfront.

What if we want to elope somewhere you’ve never been?

This is actually the case more often than not. I’m really great at exploring new territories via Google Maps, extensive research, and online scouting to find all the best views, trails, and hidden gems. When I arrive at a new destination for your adventure elopement, I will scout the location and trails in person to ensure you have the best experience possible.

Do you travel?

Yes, in fact I'm down to go anywhere in the world! Local photography coverage spans throughout Western North Carolina and East Tennessee, but I've traveled through all 50 states in the USA. I live at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Maryville, Tennessee and consider the Greater Knoxville and Asheville areas in all package prices. Anywhere beyond will have an added travel fee to cover flights (or mileage if driven), accommodations, and other expenses that may be required depending on the location. You will be charged one all-inclusive price for the trip upfront so you know exactly what to expect, and I will take care of all my own bookings to save you the effort.

Is there sales tax added to the packages?

If you live in the state of Tennessee, regardless of where you get married, I am required to charge 9.75% sales tax on top of any package or product. If you reside in another state and getting married in Tennessee, you are not required to pay sales tax. The determining factor is if the final product (i.e., digital image or print) is being delivery in Tennessee.

What is your time frame for delivery photos?

You will receive a handful of sneak peeks within 1 week of your wedding to enjoy while I work through the editing process. You will receive your full gallery 6 weeks after your wedding. Engagement session and couples portraits take 3 weeks.

Do you have the CUA permit required for the National Parks or National Forests?

Yes! I have the required permits (a.k.a. Commercial Use Authorization) to work within the Great Smoky Mountain National Park boundaries as well as the Pisgah National Forest. We can shoot anytime throughout either area because I always keep those licenses active. All other NPs and NFs require the same, and I get will obtain those on a case-by-case basis for your wedding or elopement. Depending on the specifics on a particular public land, you may be required to get a Special Use Permit that is required for ceremonies. I help throughout the application process to ensure you get everything you need.

Do you offer prints or albums?

Yes! There’s no substitute to seeing a physical copy of your favorite shots whether in album or hanging on your wall (or both!). The gallery has a print shop connected to it, which makes ordering high quality prints and canvases super easy, and it’s shareable with family and friends so they can order what want and have it shipped directly to them. I keep the prices as reasonable as possible because I want you to actually print your photos!

Do we get copyrights of the photos?

You will receive printing rights for your personal use that will extend to your family and friends so they can print their favorites too. You are allowed to print at any location of your choice, while having access to fine art prints and canvases through your online gallery as well. I maintain legal copyrights to the images as the author and creator per USC Title 17.

We are super awkward in front of the camera. Can you help?

Don’t worry a single bit, almost every person I have photographed has said the same thing going into the day… And every person has left their experience with “that wasn’t as bad as I thought!” or “wow, that was actually really fun!” I have some foolproof ways to ease tension and get you relaxed during portraits if needed. Most of the time, you’re interacting with each other and forget that I’m even there. Check out some Google reviews written by past couples and see for yourself just how many say something about being comfortable.
